Shirley Browning

1928 - 2006

Today we are sharing with you our loss of a very important member of our organization.  Shirley passed away December 26, 2006 in Seattle.  A Celebration of her Life will be held at her home in Indianola, WA in the summer of 2007.

Shirley grew up in West Seattle and attended the University of Washington. While working as a counselor at Camp Long, she met her husband, Bill.  Her passions have always been for antiques and the arts. For over fifteen years, Shirley was a vital part of the Kitsap Arts and Crafts organization and served as Director of the Port Gamble Arts Festival for several terms.  Much of the growth and recognition of the Festival is the result of her vision and hard work.  A scholarship will be awarded in her name to a student at the 2007 festival.  The family has asked that remembrances in Shirley's name can be made to Kitsap Arts & Crafts,  PO Box 1070, Kingston, WA  98346.

Yvonne Cartwright

1946 - 2008

Yvonne Cartwright died on January 31, 2008.  She ably served two terms (2004 & 2006) as President of Kitsap Arts and Crafts.  Yvonne was the driving force in the development of the highly successful Preview Reception for the Festival. The Preview was an opportunity for the community to meet the artists and view their work and meet the winners of the Kitsap Arts and Crafts Scholarships, both past & present.  Funding these scholarships along with the promotion of the Arts in Kitsap County is the major purpose of our Festival.

Yvonne made many contributions to the Kitsap Arts and Crafts organization that has helped provide many thousands of dollars for scholarships in the arts.  Her laughter, talents and hard work will be greatly missed.

The Cartwright family has requested that remembrances be made to Kitsap Arts and Crafts, P.O. Box 164, Indianola, WA., 98342  in Yvonne’s memory
